CASIB Welcomes German Research Delegation to Discuss Cooperation in Infectious Disease Research

In mid-July, CASIB welcomed a delegation of experts from the Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research (HZI), the University Medical Center Freiburg, and the Research Center Borstel – Leibniz Lung Center.

The meeting focused on current developments in infectious disease research, epidemiology, clinical studies, and opportunities for strengthening scientific cooperation between Germany and Central Asia.

During the visit, the delegation also presented the DIGG-TB project (2023–2026), funded by the German Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR). The project, titled “Success and sustainability of digital tools in tuberculosis control in the South Caucasus and Central Asia,” aims to assess the effectiveness and long-term sustainability of digital tools in tuberculosis control. The project focuses on the application of digital solutions to support tuberculosis prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and public health strategies in the South Caucasus and Central Asian regions.

The exchange highlighted common interests in the field of global health and the importance of international research cooperation in addressing infectious disease challenges. CASIB looks forward to further supporting collaboration between German and Central Asian research communities.
