Visit to the Mamun Academy in Khiva

As part of the Uzbek–German cooperation project PreCultBuilt, representatives visited the Khorezm Mamun Academy in Khiva and reviewed the results of restoration activities carried out jointly with the Deutsches Fachwerkzentrum Quedlinburg.

The project promotes resource-efficient, sustainable and authentic approaches to the conservation of historic buildings and cultural monuments. Within the framework of the cooperation, restoration work has been undertaken on significant elements of Khiva’s architectural heritage, including the historic columns and saddle beams of the Juma Mosque, as well as ceiling and wall paintings in the Tash Hauli Palace.

Specialists from the Deutsches Fachwerkzentrum Quedlinburg, working together with colleagues from the Khorezm Mamun Academy, have achieved impressive results by combining professional conservation expertise, traditional craftsmanship and sustainable restoration methods.

The cooperation represents an important contribution to the preservation of Uzbekistan’s unique cultural heritage and demonstrates the value of international partnerships in heritage conservation.

We hope that this successful collaboration will continue and support further efforts to preserve Khiva’s historic monuments for future generations.
