New BMFTR funding call supporting international cooperation in agricultural research between Germany and Central Asia (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan). The programme focuses on sustainable agriculture, digital and data-based technologies, AI and biotechnology through the establishment of joint junior research structures.

Eligible applicants are higher education institutions based in Germany, working together with at least three scientific institutions from Central Asia.

Submission deadlines:

  • Module 2 (exploratory and networking measures): 30 June 2026
  • Module 9 (establishment of research structures): 30 June 2026 or 31 May 2028

Project outlines must be submitted by the German applicant or consortium and should include information on project coordination and partners, project objectives, current state of research, exploitation potential, estimated costs and funding needs (including possible transfers abroad), contributions from foreign partners (including letters of intent), and the sustainability of the proposed structure.
