2021 Desertification and Drought Day
The 2021 Desertification and Drought Day will be held on 17 June. The main focus of which is turning degraded land into healthy. Recovering polluted land strengthens the economy, generates opportunities, boosts wages, and improves food security. It aids in the recovery of biodiversity. It also reduces the impact of climate change and supports a green restoration from the COVID-19 pandemic.
As we rebound from COVID-19, the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) will cooperate with the Ministry of Environment (MINAE) of Costa Rica, the organizer of the global observance, to promote households, communities, private sector, and countries to have a better relationship with nature.
