High-Level CASIB-Supported Delegation Visit to Uzbekistan

From 3–6 March, CASIB supported a high-level delegation visit to Uzbekistan led by the German Research Foundation (DFG) Vice President Karin Jacobs, together with representatives from German and Central Asian universities.
A key highlight of the visit was a workshop at the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan, led by Georg Guggenberger (Leibniz University Hannover), titled “Promoting Vibrant Agroecosystems in Central Asia: A One Health Approach to Organic Contaminants.”
The delegation also held a series of strategic meetings with key representatives of Uzbekistan’s research and higher education sector. Discussions focused on exploring co-funding opportunities for DFG-supported research projects and strengthening long-term scientific collaboration between Germany and Central Asia.
The visit concluded with a field trip to Urgench State University, including on-site visits to local research facilities. The visit provided valuable insights into regional research capacities and highlighted the potential for future collaborative projects.
