TRANSILI Project Officially Launched in Almaty

On 29 September, the TRANSILI project was officially launched at the Water Hub of the National Agrarian University in Almaty, Kazakhstan.
The project aims to improve the understanding of the landscape water balance in the Ili River basin. As the main source of inflow to Lake Balkhash, the Ili River plays a vital ecological and strategic role in the region. By investigating the basin’s water balance, TRANSILI seeks to generate scientific insights that can support the sustainable management of water resources.
Project partners
- Coordination: Leibniz Institute of Agricultural Development in Transition Economies (IAMO)
- Regional partners: National Agrarian University and Nazarbayev University
Through this collaboration, the partner institutions are bringing together their scientific expertise to address key hydrological challenges and contribute to the sustainable management of water resources in the Ili River basin.
