DAAD Opens Regional Office in Bishkek
The DAAD has opened its new Regional Office in Bishkek, strengthening its presence and activities across Central Asia. The new office will serve as a regional hub for academic exchange, scholarships and research cooperation, further supporting connections between universities, researchers and students in Germany and Central Asia.
The new DAAD Regional Office in Bishkek is now open and will coordinate the DAAD’s activities across Central Asia.
As the DAAD Vice President noted at the opening, the organisation recognised the importance of Central Asia at an early stage. The first DAAD Information Centres in the region were established in 2004. Over the past ten years, around 40,000 people across Central Asia have received DAAD scholarships.
The DAAD also plays an important role in research cooperation through its diverse exchange and funding programmes for students, researchers and universities. These programmes contribute to strengthening academic networks and international partnerships across the region.
We are very pleased to see the DAAD strengthening its presence in the region and look forward to close cooperation with Vera Rogova, the new Head of the Regional Office, and to many joint activities in the years ahead
