CASIB at Regional Summit 2026 in Astana

On 24 April, during the Regional Summit 2026 in Astana, Peter Liebelt (CASIB), together with Patricia Romanowsky (BMFTR), participated in the session “The Role of the Academic and Scientific Community in Shaping Regional Climate Solutions”, organized by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The session brought together leading regional and international partners, including the International Science and Technology Center, University of Central Asia, Nazarbayev University, COMSTECH, Green Academy, and representatives of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Kazakhstan.
The strong presence of German federal ministries underlined the importance of coordinated, cross-sectoral approaches to addressing complex environmental challenges. The Green Central Asia initiative was highlighted as an important framework for regional cooperation.
Discussions with Minister Sayasat Nurbek focused on ongoing projects and future collaboration opportunities. CASIB remains committed to strengthening science-based cooperation and advancing sustainable solutions in the region.
