The Regional Youth Workshop on IPBES for Europe and Central Asia 2025 is designed for early career professionals and youth network members from Western, Central, and Eastern Europe and Central Asia who are engaged in biodiversity, ecosystem services, and nature conservation, including links to water, food, health, climate change, and transformative change processes.
About IPBES
The Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) is an independent intergovernmental body established by States to strengthen the science-policy interface for biodiversity and ecosystem services, with the aim of supporting the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity, long-term human well-being, and sustainable development.
Objectives of the Workshop

Increase understanding and use of IPBES assessments and processes

Explore opportunities for youth engagement in IPBES work

Focus on key outcomes from the IPBES Nexus Assessment and Transformative Change Assessment (2024)

Engage with forward-looking tools such as the Nature Futures Framework

Foster networking and collaboration among youth across the ECA region
Eligibility
-
Early career professionals or youth representatives (approx. age 18–35)

Actively working on biodiversity-related issues in Europe or Central Asia

Affiliated with a youth organisation/network or nominated by a national government

Strong motivation to engage in IPBES-related activities
Support
Travel, accommodation, and full board for selected participants will be covered by the German Federal Government.
