On 7 March 2024, CASIB, the Director of the SVEVIND Energy Group (Hyrasia project, https://hyrasia.energy/) and the Executive Board of the Institute for Applied Hydrogen Research Sonneberg gGmbH - HySON (https://hyson.de/) met to discuss current project activities on the topic of green hydrogen and to identify potential areas of cooperation. As part of the Hyrasia project, a wind-solar-hydrogen plant is being built with the aim of producing up to two million tonnes of green hydrogen per year in the Manghystau region (Kazakhstan). The BMBF sees great potential for cooperation with the countries of Central Asia in the research areas of green hydrogen and energy security and has included the promotion of research cooperation in the current Eastern Partnership and Central Asia framework announcement https://www.bmbf.de/bmbf/de/europa-und-die-welt/vernetzung-weltweit/oestliches-europa-suedkaukasus-zentralasien/rahmenbekanntmachung-forschungsperspektive-ost.html). The Reiner Lemoine Institute is currently leading the HyRECA project to develop a study on the production potential of green hydrogen in Central Asia (https://reiner-lemoine-institut.de/hyreca/).
