UNFCCC Post-COP28. Central Asia Outcomes

The upcoming UNFCCC Post-COP28 Meeting in Tashkent (Uzbekistan) in February this year will pay special attention to the burning issue for Central Asia – to establish a regional group of negotiators from Central Asia at UNFCCC meetings. Thus, this will enhance the presence of the Central Asian region in the global climate arena.

The other important issues for discussion will be:

• Results and achievements of Central Asian countries from participation at UNFCCC COP-28.
• Coordinate work in the Central Asian region in implementing the roadmap to the UNFCCC COP-29.
• Intensify regional cooperation on climate change issues in Central Asia.
• Discuss the role of climate action transparency in Central Asia through СAREC as a regional hub.
