From April 26 to 28, 2022, Tashkent hosted the international investment conference "Energy Week: Central Asia and Mongolia 2022" (Energy-Week "Central Asia & Mongolia 2022"). At the event, representatives of ministries and authorities, companies and international financial organizations discussed issues of expanding the use of renewable energy sources. Suitable natural conditions combined with the ambitious goals of many Central Asian countries have led to a growing interest in this sector, namely investment and its overall development.

CLIENT II is also involved in this trend. For instance, the Ă–koFlussPlan project in Kyrgyzstan is developing ways to make more efficient use of renewable energy sources in order to reduce the need for firewood harvested from the ecologically valuable floodplain forests of the Naryn River (https://www.bmbf-client.de/projekte/OekoFlussPlan).

In addition, CLIENT II launched the PV-2-Heat project in Mongolia last year. The project aims to reduce the extreme air pollution in Ulaanbaatar, caused by traditional heating with coal, wood and waste, through the use of renewable energies. For this purpose, systems are being developed to convert solar energy into thermal energy (https://pv2heat.com/).
