In the last week of July 2023, CASIB introduced Prof. Dr. Eileen Eckmeier, Director of the Institute for Ecosystem Research, to relevant stakeholders for future scientific cooperation with Kazakhstan in Astana.

The program included the Science Fund, the Center for International Programs, the Ministry of Research of Kazakhstan, the German Embassy and many others to discuss potential project ideas. We have already had very good experiences with all the institutions mentioned in terms of cooperation within the framework of the CLIENT II measures. The task now is to develop new ideas for future support measures.

The Center for International Programs (https://bolashak.gov.kz/ru/o-kompanii) makes an important contribution to educational cooperation between Germany and Kazakhstan through its scholarship program for outstanding Kazakh students. The Kazakh side has informed us that cooperation with Germany in particular should be strengthened as part of the program. The new "500 Scientists" program enables Kazakh scientists to finance internships abroad in Germany and is therefore very interesting for our German-Kazakh project partners.
