How to help livestock farmers to adapt in response to changing water inflow in the Ili Delta?

On October 8th CASIB joined the final workshop of the IliLive Project. Participants from Germany and Kazakhstan discussed the outcomes of the joint work on a 3-year project. As a result, another follow-up project is comingup to extend the research on pasture management in river deltas of Central Asia. To find out more, read here.

Carbon neutrality in Kazakhstan: Too ambitious goal or why it might work?

Earlier in October CASIB joined the online conference on developing a green economy in Kazakhstan. The event was organized by the German Business Association in Kazakhstan. The meeting was attended by the Ambassador of Federal Republic of Germany to Kazakhstan Monica Iversen and Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Roman Sklyar. The guests and members of the German Business Association discussed Kazakhstan's strategic goal by 2060: achieving carbon neutrality, i.e. achieving net zero greenhouse gas emissions.

Regional Policy Dialogue

A new UN capacity-building project for transition economies is taking off:

UNECE leads a multi-agency project to support UNECE member States to harness the power of trade and economic cooperation in their circular economy transition. The project will help countries address challenges and harness opportunities in key target areas, including traceability of supply chains, innovation-enhancing procurement, and the management of waste, including food loss and waste-related infrastructure. Visiting IICAS in Nukus (Karakalpakstan)

Following the meeting regarding the IICAS development between CASIB and the Ministry of Innovative Development of the Republic of Uzbekistan, we made an on-site visit to Nukus to witness the already established infrastructure and to talk with employees and representatives of local universities and the Academy of Sciences about the potentials and ideas for closer cooperation.

In September CASIB met with representatives of the Ministry of Innovative Development of the Republic of Uzbekistan to discuss progress of the on-going project and new opportunities for further cooperation. Among other perspectives on the agenda there is a strong focus on combining efforts and involving the International Innovation Center for the Aral Sea Basin of the Republic of Uzbekistan (IICAS) for future partnership.
